311 in Albuquerque

How to reach the city when something's wrong, what people call about, and the strangest calls we've read.

How to use 311

  • Call 311, or 505-768-2000.
  • Or report it online or in the ABQ311 app.
  • An emergency? Call 911.

Problems where you rent

Call 311 about things like no heat or AC, leaks, mold, bugs or mice, wires showing, or something about to fall apart. A city inspector can come look. The city can order the owner to make repairs. If a place isn't safe to live in, it can order everyone out.

Write down the number 311 gives you. It's how you check on your problem later.

Every month the Ledger reads through the calls people make to the city's 311 line and picks the strangest. Each one is here in full, in the caller's own words, with the city's reply. Names, numbers and exact addresses are taken out.

A request is what someone asked the city for, not what the city found. Closed means the city marked it closed and does not say how. How long requests take counts only requests that were closed, so the ones still open are not in those figures. The city's records list some requests more than once; the Ledger counts each request once. Source: City of Albuquerque 311 records, counted through October 23, 2026.
