Fidelity Bank of Texas says it appears the Albuquerque credit union made "clearly risky and problematic loans," sold pieces of them to "innocent and unsuspecting" lenders, and "did not care about the quality" of what it sold.
Between 2019 and 2024 the Albuquerque credit union lent $416 million in federally backed business loans, about 91 percent of it to businesses in fifteen other states. In May, USDA revoked its standing as an approved lender.
